What’s involved
We assess the wall coming out, confirm whether it's load-bearing, and put the right structural support — usually a steel beam — in place where needed.
We then open up the space, run any new electrics, plumbing and heating to suit the new layout, and fit the kitchen.
Crucially, we finish the whole area as one room — matching the flooring, levelling the ceiling and blending the plaster — so it reads as a single, considered space, not two rooms knocked together.

Will knocking through need a steel beam?
Only if the wall is load-bearing — and we'll confirm that before any work starts. Where a beam is needed, we install a correctly-sized one with building regs sign-off.
Will the new open space feel cold or echoey?
It can if it's not thought through, so we plan heating, flooring and finishes for the larger space. Done well, an open-plan kitchen-diner feels warm and welcoming.
Can you do this as part of an extension?
Absolutely — opening up internally and extending out is a brilliant combination, and a really common way to create a big kitchen-living-dining space.
