Everything good starts underground. Foundations and groundwork are the part nobody sees, but get them wrong and the whole build suffers. We take this stage seriously — proper preparation, correctly-engineered foundations, and drainage done right from day one.

What’s involved
We begin by clearing and levelling the site and setting out exactly to plan.
We then excavate and lay foundations to the engineer's specification and ground conditions — strip, trench-fill or otherwise as required — and install the drainage and services that need to go in before the slab.
Everything is checked and signed off by building control at the key stages before we build up, so there's a proper record that the base is sound.

Why does groundwork cost what it does?
Because it's heavy, skilled work that varies hugely with ground conditions — soft ground, slopes or trees nearby can all mean deeper or wider foundations. A site visit lets us give you a real figure, not a guess.
What if you hit bad ground?
It happens, and we'll tell you straight away rather than press on regardless. Sometimes deeper foundations or an engineered solution is needed — we'll explain it and price it clearly.
Do you handle the drainage too?
Yes — drainage and below-ground services are part of groundwork, and we install them properly so they're right before anything is built on top.
